loneliness and the internet: an issue?

Having read the extracts quoted in the post, I do not perceive them as problematic in that yes, the internet with particularly the social networking tools can be an escapism to confront ourselves with who we are. I know, it sounds very spiritual type of discourse; but our world is saturated with continuous connection that can be meaningless. Of course, there are many other things that can become meaningless and an escapism. The technology is not bad or good per se: it is what we want from it.
