Back When The Senate Tried To Ban Dial Telephones | Techdirt. 22 September 2010

I like that one for what it says about technology changes. We often don’t appreciate what it is until much later. This post echoes what a comment made about the telegraph and telephone poles end of 19th century/early 20th century. I was researching old legislations (French) for my LLM dissertation (years ago) about criminal procedure and I remember falling on a comment that criticised the installation and widespread use of telephone poles as disfiguring the landscape. I did not keep a record of it and I have since then regretted it sharply. First, to oppose it to those telling us windfarms are ugly; second, as a testimony of what people can get used to since nobody thinks of criticising telephone poles!!
